Dear Faith Academy Community Member,
There was a delightful concert by the middle school last Thursday with strings, band and chorus. This week it is the High School’s turn. At 6:00 on Thursday, Oct 3 in Cadd Theatre. Come on out and enjoy an evening of music.
We’ve come to the end of the first quarter! This week is a short one for elementary and middle school due to the Parent-Teacher conferences starting on Thursday and going through Friday. For the high school students, they will have classes all the way up till 11:00 am on Friday. Please do come in and take advantage of the opportunity to speak with the teachers if you have any questions or concerns, or even if you want to come in just to tell them what a great job they are doing!
May you and your family enjoy the days off from school. Hopefully, the time away allows for a break from the cycle of sickness that seems to continue in our community. Lord willing, students will come back healthy and energized to begin the 2nd quarter.
We are also hosting the Dan Landry volleyball tournament this weekend. Starting Thursday and running through Saturday the four Vanguard teams (girls and guys, varsity and jv) will be competing in games. Come on out and support your Vanguard teams!
Serving with you,
Head of School0

A Faith Academy student was recently inappropriately propositioned by an adult through social media. This came to our attention and has been aptly dealt with. Please take this opportunity to talk to your kids about on-line safety and if any additional incidents come to light, please let the Child Safety Team know by using the following link.

Dear Faith Community
It is hard to believe first quarter is done… time surely flies! It has been a great start for Side by Side this year and I am so thankful for everyone who has gotten involved to serve our school.
Thank you to the partner families who came alongside our new school families to encourage them at the beginning of the school year. We had a successful Meet the Teacher and New Parents Breakfast.
I am so thankful for Jill Riggins, Donna Tan and Kristen Bursma who coordinate the efforts in the three divisions, as well as their teams of helpers. They will be coordinating lunches for staff and blessing them in numerous ways. Bonnie Chua has been reaching out to our Chinese families with help from others and that has been a wonderful blessing.
The main Side by Side team is made up of 10 parents as well as Mr. Winslade and Mr. Hardeman. We meet quarterly to give input on pertinent issues as well as plan community events. On that note I want to ask you to Save the Date of November 8 from 4 pm for our FA Community Picnic. We are excited to welcome Gloryfall again as we just enjoy being together and getting to know one another more. Do watch out for the posters after break!
If you wish to get involved with Side by Side, feel free to approach myself or any of the team. Have a wonderful break!!
Loving our community!
Each year, Faith Academy relies on volunteers to keep a number of its programs running smoothly. Can you sew? Do carpentry? Maybe you can translate between English and a foreign language? Whatever you can offer in time or talent will be a great blessing to our school and well spent for the Lord.
Even if you might be available only occasionally, please let us know what skills you might have so that, as your availability permits, we can use it to benefit our students.
Let’s pool our skills together as a community and serve the Lord with the gifts He has ENTRUSTED us! If you are a parent who would like to commit your time and skills, please complete the form in this link: VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION FORM.
On Saturday, October 5 from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, we will be administering the SAT exams in CADD. If you are on campus that day, please stay away from that area as it is restricted, and keep the noise level to a minimum.
Faith Academy test-takers need to also comply with the SAT admission requirements, so please bring your Admission Ticket and proper ID. You will not be allowed entry if you do not have a picture ID. Read carefully the College Board’s instructions that were sent to you by email!
On behalf of the Faith Academy Administration, the Advancement Department will be hosting a meeting for consideration of a new Faith Academy Parking Structure located next to the Aquatics Facility to improve our traffic flow. The meeting will be held TOMORROW, Thursday, October 3 right after school in Cadd 120 (new location) Conference Room (facing Dorm 3). This day is a Parent-Teacher Conference Day for ESD and MSD and the HSD Opening Concert begins at 6:00 pm. The meeting will begin at 2:45 p.m. with light refreshments.
All interested Faith Academy families are encouraged to attend.
At the end of last school year at FA, we said goodbye to 4 or our Family Counselors: Mina Daniels, Rosa Pardue, Hyungjun & Sunkyung Kim. Having already said goodbye to Courtney Dowell earlier last December, who served as a lay counselor at FA and is now back in the US pursuing further counseling training, we have been asking the Lord for His provision of more Family Counselors to help us out at the FA Family Counseling Center. With gratefulness to God for answered prayer and for His provision, I am very pleased to introduce to the FA community our newest Family Counselor: Rowena “Owen” Domingo!
Owen has her Master of Arts degree in Christian Counseling from Alliance Graduate School and is a member of the Philippine Association of Christian Counselors and the Asia Christian Counselors Association. She was part of the Pastoral Care & Counseling Ministry of Greenhills Christian Fellowship in Pasig City since 2000 but had gone out to do a more extensive work with orphanages and homes for abused and abandoned children in the recent years. She had worked with Safe Haven Community Center & Children’s Home in Quezon City and Vision Help International Care Foundation in Antipolo, Rizal. She is presently working with the adolescent girls at Consider the Lily Foundation in Victoria Valley, Antipolo.
Owen has a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Santo Tomas. Her husband Dennis, who was a young lawyer back in the 80s, and Owen were the pioneers of their church’s Young Professionals Fellowship. After the birth of their first child she decided to set aside her career to focus on their new family. Three other children were soon added and when the youngest was 4 years old Dennis passed away due to a heart attack. He was only 38 years old. All four kids are now grown, the eldest has married and has two elementary-aged sons.
Having gone through the rigors of single parenting she has first-hand experiences of raising kids totally trusting God for resources and guidance. Life’s challenges didn’t stop her from pursuing further studies while working in the corporate setting (Basic Management Program at Asian Institute of Management) and getting equipped for the ministry (MACC at AGS). Her children are now professionals themselves allowing her more time to minister to the broken.
Many of the cases that Owen handles involve managing the effects of different forms of abuse – at home, in schools, or at the workplace. Adolescents enjoy discussing career opportunities with her since she also is completing a course in Guidance & Counseling as well as journeying with them through the usual struggles with their peers. In the same way with adults, since they are not exempt from the pressures of parenting as well as different transitions in life, Owen helps them develop life skills useful in facing challenges. Owen views her difficult life experiences as a testimony of how God can cause all things to work for the good of all those who love Him.
Owen is fluent in both English & Tagalog and is available at our FA Family Counseling Center every Monday from 10 AM to 4 PM. To schedule an appointment with Owen, please contact her directly as follows:
