FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL’S OFFICE

Dear Faith Academy Community Member,

This week is the high school’s turn to “be a bit crazy” at school with Spirit Week. There is a lot of spirit running around in interesting looking outfits these days. All in good fun and in support of the school.

Our HR Director, Marla Henderson, is off on a month-long trip to the US. One of the major things she will be doing is making connections with potential staff for the following school year. If you are not aware, the goal this year is to fully staff the critical positions of the school by April 1, 2020, for the following school year. We are making progress, but there is a long way to go.

This trip that Marla is on could provide some excellent prospects. Please be in prayer for the Lord to use this time well for Faith’s future staffing needs and to keep Marla safe on the road.

Serving with you,

Tom Hardeman

Head of School

FROM THE DEPUTY HEAD OF SCHOOL

Dear Parents and Personnel,

The School Calendar for SY 2020-2021 has been approved and can be viewed by clicking this link.

You can also get there via the Faith Academy website under ABOUT – SCHOOL CALENDAR.

Take note that both the 2019-2020 and the 2020-2021 school years are posted so check that you click the right tab.

(Something to note; This year classes began on August 1st and ended on May 29th. Next year, since school is not allowed to start in July, classes will not begin until August 6th and yet will still finish on May 28th, rather than go until June 4)

NEW APPLICATIONS FOR SECOND SEMESTER

New Applications for the 2nd Semester of SY 2019-20 will be received up until November 15, 2019. The last day to be tested both for Part 1 & 2 is on November 22, 2019. All interviews need to be done by November 29, 2019.

Thank you!

~ Registrar’s Office

FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE

Sodexo passed along this very timely and important reminder. Here at Faith, we do our best to address these issues, but we’d like to encourage you to do the same at home.

Summary: Just this last month, the Department of Health (DOH) declared a national dengue epidemic due to the increase of dengue fever cases from January this year. Dengue fever is a mosquito viral infection that can lead to severe flu-like symptoms and is caused by four (4) different viruses spread by the Aedes mosquito. Symptoms may range from mild to severe and can appear up to seven (7) days after being bitten by the mosquito carrying the virus. Symptoms include aching muscles and joints, high fever, intense headache, vomiting and nausea, among others. There is no specific treatment for dengue fever, and the best prevention method is to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.

These are some preventive actions we would like to share and emphasize:

–              Use insect repellent.

–              Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants tucked into socks.

–              Ensure window and door screens are secured and free of holes.

–              Reduce mosquito habitats (covering, emptying and cleaning domestic water storage containers weekly).

–              Proper waste disposal and removal of artificial man-made habitats (e.g. tires, barrels, etc.).

–              Frequent checking and removing stagnant water.

–              Apply appropriate insecticides.

–              If you have symptoms of dengue, seek medical attention immediately.

TALENT NIGHT AUDITIONS

Come and experience the joy of praying together for our school and our kids! 7:15-8: 30 am every Tuesday morning in the Tipunan prayer room.

“This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine,

let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.”

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your

good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
