Job Description for Head of School

The Position: Faith Academy is seeking applications from qualified individuals to fill the Head of School position beginning July 2020. The Head of School reports directly to the Faith Academy Board of Trustees and is responsible for directing all academic and administrative operations of the school. The Head of School is asked to raise his or her own financial support and to be a member of an evangelical mission organization.

Faith Academy, founded in 1957, is an International Christian school offering Pre-K through Grade 12 education for missionary, national, and international students. The school’s 120+ professional staff members and 520+ students work and study on a picturesque 8 hectare (20 acres) campus overlooking Manila, Philippines. Teachers and students represent more than 20 nationalities. 

Faith Academy offers a western-styled curriculum based on standards from recognized educational organizations. The school currently maintains joint accreditation status with the Western Association of School & Colleges (WASC), and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Another six-year accreditation was granted in 2018.

Faith Academy is officially recognized by the Philippine Government as an Educational Institution of International Character. This legislation, signed by the Philippine President in April of 2019, affords the school important benefits and privileges to continue carrying out its educational programs.

Responsibilities of the Position: The Head of School functions as the Board of Trustees’ sole employee who is responsible for carrying out Faith Academy’s purpose and mission. The Head of School is directly responsible for:

  • Working with the trustees and stakeholders on the school’s strategic direction, campus infrastructure, and institutional advancement
  • Encouraging and facilitating spiritual development across all school departments
  • Establishing policies and program activities to create and maintain a school-wide standard of excellence
  • Recruiting, developing, and retaining a team of outstanding personnel who are committed to the mission, vision, and goals of Faith Academy, professional development, and lifelong learning
  • Ensuring the school provides a safe and secure environment for students and personnel


Professional Qualities: The successful candidate will possess an appropriate educational background, experience, and professional qualities including, but not limited to, the following:

  • A Master’s degree in Education, Education Administration or a related field
  • Experience in school administration preferred
  • Classroom teaching experience, including teaching in an international setting
  • Success in implementing program changes and new initiatives
  • Competency in providing leadership within a multicultural environment
  • Excellence in communication, both oral and written
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including problem-solving and conflict resolution
  • Knowledge of boarding school management preferred
  • Understanding of the financial aspects of the school and related programs
