FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL’S OFFICE

Dear Faith Academy Community Member,

We continue to function as a community in the midst of the impending potential eruption of Taal volcano. It is a daily journey, wondering when the situation may change and what direction events will take us. It would be easy to slip into a fearful mode and be consumed with worry over something we have no control over. Thankfully we serve a God who is more than just aware. He is in charge of all that takes place on our planet and specifically, in our lives. As a result, we choose as a community of Christ-followers to live out the words of Philippians 4:6&7 “6Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Let’s continue looking to the Lord and asking for His mercy and grace not only for our lives, but for all of those who have been displaced by Taal’s current activity. Then we can experience that supernatural peace God offers…Sounds pretty good to me! 🙂

On the practical side, we continue to monitor the daily forecasts for wind direction, updates on volcanic activity and any pertinent information regarding Taal’s activity that might impact our community.

Faith Academy is partnering with First Love International to help provide relief to people recently displaced by Taal volcano. We are reaching out to alumni and to our community to be involved in this effort. If you would like more information, please see the article submitted by Don MacKay further down in this bulletin.

As a result of the ongoing volcanic activity and resulting closure of this area, our Middle School has had to cancel plans to have our annual week of Outdoor Education (OE) at Taal and surrounding area. We have been using this site for over 30 years now as one of our rotation sites. There was one other time several years back where we had to make alternative plans, and that was when Subic became one of our rotation sites. A few years later Taal came back into the rotation. Time will tell if this will be the case with this cycle of activity. Just recently the Middle School announced that the new plans are to partner with Rizal Re-Creation Center as the site for this year’s OE. This will enable Middle School to stick with the original dates and move ahead, rather than postpone for several months and try to make it happen later in the year. Please pray for all of the logistics to come together in a timely manner. Much has yet to be accomplished.

This week Faith Academy will host the annual Hardeman Basketball Tournament starting on Thursday. There will be 16 teams coming on campus for this event. Come on out and cheer on all four of our Vanguard teams! This is a wonderful opportunity for our teams and community to be a witness and a testimony both on the basketball courts and in the stands. Let’s let this thought guide us as we cheer and interact throughout the tournament.

Prayer please: Next week is Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW) for the High School. Pastor James Aiton, Senior Pastor of Favor Church, will be the speaker for the week. This is a tremendous opportunity for the Lord to be at work in the lives of our students and staff. Please pray for Pastor Aiton as he prepares, and pray for all of those who will be in attendance, that God will prepare hearts to not only hear the message, but respond as well.

Serving with you,

Tom Hardeman

Head of School

2020 VALLEY GOLF VEHICLE STICKERS

2020 VALLEY GOLF VEHICLE STICKERS

Dear Faith Community,

The 2020 Valley Golf vehicle stickers are now selling at our FA Business Office.  The price remains at 1200 pesos for each vehicle.  Please bring a copy of your OR (Official Receipt) for each vehicle.  If you have not previously purchased a sticker for your vehicle, we will also need to have a copy of your CR (Certificate of Registration).  For those who have recently purchased a vehicle, please bring the Deed of Sale and copy of the OR.

Faith Academy Security will be reminding drivers of the need to purchase the 2020 sticker.  Beginning February 3, 2020, the Faith Academy security guards will begin the process of reminding drivers without stickers to purchase and place the sticker on the outside of the windshield of your car or on the front of your motorcycle.

For those of you who are not aware, Faith Academy purchases a special blue-colored sticker from Valley Golf and Country Club as required for passing through the Valley Golf area.  While the Golf Club sells other stickers, the blue one, is unique to Faith Academy and is used for entrance onto the Faith campus as well as entry at the Penny Lane gate for access to Faith Academy.

TAAL RELIEF

The Faith Academy Community, Faith Alumni, and First Love International are joining to bring relief to victims of the Taal eruption.

We are partnering with local pastor, Vic Fajardo, whom Outdoor Ed Staff and Students have worked with for several years. His congregation is from the affected Taal area, and are included in the 130,00 people sheltered in evacuation centers.

Locally, we will be collecting goods to distribute in the area. We welcome Faith Academy families to collect goods and bring to the box in front of the High School Office. We will supplement these goods with financial gifts given from around the world. When we deliver the items, church members will also invite friends who do not know about Jesus. We Plan to bring Tagalog Scriptures so spiritual needs can be met alongside physical needs. We will also be needing trucks to deliver the goods.
