Drama Teacher & Director
The Drama Teacher and Director will provide quality, Christ-centered education for children, most of whom are children of missionaries. To create an environment conducive to learning and teach children basic academic, social, and developmental skills. Educational duties are based on grade level and subject matter/specialty. They also set the artistic vision for a play or musical, including selecting the cast, collaborating with designers, blocking the play’s movements, leading rehearsals, and monitoring the production’s pacing.
Essential Duties of the job
- Prepare lessons according to curriculum guidelines
- Give instruction and supervise students
- Provide assessment of students according to the guidelines given
- Attend after school meetings and be available for extra-curricular activities as needed
- Select script and secure approval from administration
- Plan a detailed rehearsal schedule with the TD and other members of the team
- Hold auditions to select the cast members, plan blocking, choreography and execute rehearsals
- Collaborate with the Technical Director (TD) in the execution of lighting, sound, set, and rigging
- Collaborate with the Music Director (if required)
- Collaborate with Costume Manager
- Assist in securing other personnel to fill necessary production roles such as: props, painting, food organization, graphic design, photo/videography
- Overseeing full runs of the show to make adjustments before opening
- Attending shows to take notes on how the actors might improve for the next performance
Additional responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree & Certification in education
- Minimum of one year teaching experience preferred
- Ability to work well with children
- Desire to expand the reach of the gospel
- Willingness to work as part of a team
- Growing relationship with Christ

PRODUCTIONS
First Semester Production Opportunities
- General Production – extra-curricular, may involve grades of any age, play or musical
- Advanced Drama Class – rehearsed during school day, cast members must have taken Principles of Acting and audition for the class, class requires dramaturgical curricular elements
- Theater Workshop – production workshops ending with a student led black box style mini-production
Second Semester
- Musical Production – extra-curricular, may involved any range of grades or HS only
