Industrial Arts Teacher

To provide quality, Christ-centered education for children, most of whom are children of missionaries. To create an environment conducive to learning and teach children basic academic, social, and developmental skills. Educational duties are based on grade level and subject matter/specialty.

Essential Duties of the job

Prepare lessons according to curriculum guidelines
Give instruction and supervise students
Provide assessment of students according to the guidelines given
Attend after school meetings and be available for extra-curricular activities as needed

Bachelor’s degree & Certification in education
Minimum of one year teaching experience, preferred
Ability to work well with children
Desire to expand the reach of the gospel

Courses Offered In This Department

7th GRADE INDUSTRIAL ARTS (one semester)

Seventh Grade Industrial Arts is an introductory course in woodworking. Topics covered will include the following: general shop safety, hand tool safety and usage, and the safe use of selected power tools. Students will work on several required projects. Student input is a consideration. Projects will vary from year to year.

8th GRADE INDUSTRIAL ARTS (one semester)

Eighth Grade Industrial Arts is an introductory course in woodworking. Topics covered will include the following: general shop safety, hand tool safety and usage, and the safe use of selected power tools. Students will work on several required projects. HIGH SCHOOL WOODWORKING I Semester ½ Credit

Students will use wood as a medium of creative expression and learn about shop and tool safety, joinery, fasteners, and the proper use of hand and power tools. The course will develop recreational and vocational interest as well as practical woodworking skills.

HIGH SCHOOL WOODWORKING II Semester ½ Credit

Prerequisite: Woodworking I
The course will review hand and power tools and stationary machines. It will enhance the skills gained in Woodworking I. Advanced techniques and projects are part of the course expectations.
