The Tech Team is a skill-building and service-oriented club which serves the school and community by providing stage lighting and sound reinforcement for chapels, concerts, plays, outreaches, and more. Students learn to connect and run sound systems, stage lights, and projection systems during training sessions and then accept assignments to serve various events throughout the school year.
Length of Activity
The Tech team involvement lasts all year long but the time commitment varies. There will be planned training time based on the schedule of a majority of participants. There are then scheduled times for service throughout the year at various events.
All students are welcome to attend training sessions. Invitations to participate positions for events will be based on demonstrated competence. If you haven’t been trained in an area you will not be allowed to run the equipment.
Expectations of Participants
To be considered a member of the tech team, you must attend training sessions. Then you need to be available for regular service in high school chapel and occasional events. You must also commit to the reading of instructional materials on your own with mastery checks if you wish to be considered the only techie for student events such as parties/oasis or worship team practice.
Students who are part of the Tech team need to be self-motivated to read and study on their own. Tech team members must also recognize that long hours after school are required in the two weeks before a music or drama production. Most major events and paid/service hour events will require you to arrange your transportation to and from school outside of regular van hours. Once you commit to an event you will be expected to attend all rehearsals and parts of an event.
