Nurse
The Nurse will provide limited medical services to the students, staff, employees, and volunteers of Faith Academy, including but not limited to – assessment, treatment, basic emergency care, and client referral as necessary. The nurses maintain health records on all students, do health education, screening and monitoring, and maintain an extensive immunization program.
Essential Duties of the job
- Possess and be comfortable in history-taking and assessment skills
- Be familiar with the indication, dosages, side effects, and adverse effects of over-the-counter medications that are administered in the Health Services
- Be familiar with use of an otoscope, audioscope, and nebulizer
- Be familiar with current CDC immunization schedule and the vaccines used in the Health Services
- Be able to deliver CPR and stay current in AHA skills
- Provide walk-in consultation (usually 30-40 daily) and chart on each consultation
- Participate in hearing, vision, and health screening of elementary students
- Successfully take BP on staff and students as needed
- Administer immunizations as requested by parents
- Administer TB skin tests (Mantoux) to students, staff, and volunteers
- Prepare first aid boxes and advise staff on basic first aid as needed
- Care for medical emergencies in the classroom or playground – be able to get to the emergency in a timely manner while carrying the necessary equipment
- Be the nurse-on-call during school activities and sports events as requested
- Be able to research and prepare health related topics to classes or gathering as requested
- Screen and triage patients for staff doctor

- Field phone calls from parents, boarding home parents, and missionaries in the community
Written Communication
- Be able to communicate through written form with parents and boarding home parents
- Send and answer Health Services email on a variety of topics
- Complete charting on each student visit – include student’s complaint, assessment, and plan of treatment/follow up
Computer skills
- Have basic computer skills (or be willing to learn) – be able to effectively use Word, email, and the internet
- Navigate current computer system to find student health information and chart on each visit that a student makes to the Health Services
Job specifications
- Be registered as a nurse (RN, LVN, LPN or equivalent)
- Experience working in pediatric nursing desired
- Keep license current in home country
- Have a genuine love for children
- Be mature spiritually and emotionally
