Use your god-given Talents and Professional skills to

Caleb Mackay
3rd Grade
“Faith Academy is home to me because I have spent the majority of my life here. I went to Faith Academy K-12, and now I have the amazing opportunity to serve here as a teacher. Initially my wife and I were open to serving anywhere in the world, but God opened and closed doors to have us end up here in the Philippines. At first I loved that I had the opportunity to teach at the school that helped me grow so much. However, since teaching here, I have grown to love even more how my ministry is helping missionary families by teaching their children so they can do their ministry with ease.”
Caleb spent his childhood years in the Philippines.

“很少有人知道我曾是一名电气工程师,并有机会在美国宇航局实习过。上大学时,我在华盛顿特区外的戈达德太空飞行中心实习。我的工作是将一个真空室自动化,这个真空室是在光学元件被送入太空之前用于测试。真空室是在一个干净的房间里,所以我工作时必须全天侯穿着连体防尘服和手套。现在我在信心学院教潜水,原来的连体防尘服变成了连体的潜水服。
What I love most about working at Faith is getting to help students figure out who they are and giving them lots of opportunities to try different things as they do that. There were a couple students I had in Bible study who went to a large state school in the US together. They both ended up getting involved with CRU there and they wrote back to me after a year saying that they never would have gotten involved in student ministries if we hadn’t had that Bible study. One of them works for CRU full-time now, so it’s cool to see them passing on what they have learned and helping disciple others.
最后,我希望我在信心学院的时光,能够让我看见我的学生们明白爱耶稣和影响世界的意义。“

“Although this year has only been my second year at Faith, it seems like two years has been such a long time already. I remember my first time meeting everyone at staff retreat. I was so shy and nervous to talk to anyone and only knew a few people that were working at Faith. I had just graduated from university and coming to serve at Faith was something that I felt God wanted me to do. I was just so blessed by how friendly everyone was and hearing how much they gave up to come to the Philippines was such a humbling experience and something that inspired me to serve. Serving here has been such a great experience!
I feel so grateful to have had the chance to serve in a school with such great people who I do not just call colleagues, but also dear friends. God has given me the opportunity to teach Pre-K along with Mrs. Tara Santos. She was one of the many people who set our working environment into one that promotes professional development. This was especially apparent this year as I earned my professional license to teach. I do not think I would have managed to teach a class and study for my licensure exam without the help and support of the people I work with in Elementary. They never stopped praying for me, encouraging me, and be there for me when I needed their support. I am blessed to serve alongside people who build up and edify each other.
Next year, one thing that I am looking forward to is not only seeing our kids move on to Kindergarten, but also seeing all the other kids go up a grade! It brings me joy to see how God allows them to grow and bloom each year.
Preschoolers have taught me that you can choose to worry less and enjoy life more. There’s always something to be joyful about! This may be cheesy but their smiles and laughter remind me that when we face problems, worrying won’t solve anything and instead we can depend on and look to God. This year’s group of Pre-Kindergartners will always remind me of that. Sometimes seeing things from their perspective can help you realize and learn a lot. And like what we always say in our class, “when something is challenging, put your faith in God and just keep going!'”
Walt Spicer
Deputy Head of School
“Cheryl and I (Walt) Spicer met at Calvary University. I was an education major and Cheryl was a nurse. We believed God called us into missions, specifically in the support role of teaching missionary children. We joined New Tribes Mission (now called Ethnos360).
We believe that God called us to serve at Faith Academy and it has become our home: Cheryl grew up attending Faith Academy, starting first grade at FA and graduating from FA, having many fond memories of FA and the dorm; this is where all five of our children attended and graduated, and this is where we still serve–myself as the Deputy Head and Cheryl as a school nurse. It is only by God’s grace that we continue to serve, but we are confident in the school’s vision and mission. It is aligned with God’s Word and our calling in life–worthy to give our life for.”
